Two people injured in accident near Milan

MILAN - Two people were hospitalized Saturday after a two-vehicle accident on U.S. 250 in Erie County. Jesus S. Morales, 21, of Columbus, was charged with failure to yield the right-of-way in the collision with the 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Mark A. Wikel, 48, of 74 Lockwood Road, Milan, said troopers with the state Highway Patrol's Sandusky post. Troopers charged Wikel with driving under the influence, but test results of his blood-alcohol content level are pending. Milan Township firefighters transported Morales to Fisher-Titus Medical Center with minor injuries. There was no further information on his condition this morning.

MILAN - Two people were hospitalized Saturday after a two-vehicle accident on U.S. 250 in Erie County.

Wikel, 48, of 74 Lockwood Road, Milan, said troopers with the state Highway Patrol's Sandusky post. Troopers charged Wikel with driving under the influence, but test results of his blood-alcohol content level are pending.

Milan Township firefighters transported Morales to Fisher-Titus Medical Center with minor injuries. There was no further information on his condition this morning.

His only passenger, Itzelyl Lopez, 20, also of Columbus, first went to Fisher-Titus with serious injuries. She later was transferred by medical helicopter to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, where she was listed in fair condition this morning.

Neither Wikel nor his wife, Judy A. Wikel, 47, were injured.
