A group of local troops is headed to Afghanistan.
The 100 or so troops being deployed were honored by a number of recent ceremonies, including a send-off Friday at Lorain Community College. They will then travel to training Monday at an undisclosed location.
A story about the local soldiers was published in Saturday's Reflector. To read the story, you can pick up a copy of that issue or you can subscribe to the e-paper for less than $1 per week and read it now.

He is in it all
He is indeed
God Bless and good luck. Return safe.
I talked with one of those going to be deployed in my establishment today and I was shocked when he told me he was going, I thought we were winding down operations. We joked that his unit would be shutting of the lights when they leave. I pray that his unit as well as the rest over there return home safe, we need to stay out of the middle east...let them solve their problems on their own.
Godspeed Tyler. We will watch the homefront while you are away.
Be safe, strong and courageous. Most of all get back home to those of us who love you,who are proud of you and pray for you daily
