Three people were taken to area hospitals with various injuries following a two-vehicle crash on Ohio 51 near Fostoria Road.

Evelyn Earhart, 31, of Clyde, was traveling northwest on Ohio 51, while Robert Fay, 67, of Bellevue, was traveling southeast on Ohio 51.

According to the state Highway Patrol, Earhart went left of center, striking Fay head on. The vehicles came to rest partially on the roadway. The crash remains under investigation.

Earhart sustained serious injuries and had to be extricated from her vehicle by Allen/Clay Joint Fire District. She was then air-lifted to University of Toledo Medical College, troopers said. Earhart was not wearing her seatbelt.

Fay sustained minor injuries and was taken to St. Charles Hospital by Allen/Clay Joint Fire. He was wearing his seatbelt.

Fay's passenger, Rose Fay, 67, Bellevue, sustained minor injuries and also was transported to St. Charles by Allen/Clay Joint Fire. She was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash, troopers said.

The couple were treated and released from St. Charles.

Alcohol is not a factor, troopers said.

The Ottawa County Sheriff's Department, Clay Township Police and the Allen/Clay Joint Fire District responded to the scene.
