JUST LIKE OLD TIMES - Huron County Courthouse caught fire 95 years ago

Huron County's Courthouse in Norwalk is receiving new heating and cooling apparatus after several years of inefficient equipment and high utility bills. The Courthouse is fast completing its first century of service and is the fourth district building to stand on that lot. We have also arrived at the 95th anniversary of one of the biggest stories in Huron County for many years. Sheriff Henry Sattig with his wife and daughter were living in the residence part of the jail in 1912. On the evening of July 9th, the sheriff's daughter, Emma, was in her bedroom when she spotted flames at the southeast corner of the courthouse on the third floor. Huron County’s Courthouse in Norwalk is receiving new heating and cooling apparatus after several years of inefficient equipment and high utility bills. The Courthouse is fast completing its first century of service and is the fourth district building to stand on that lot. We have also arrived at the 95th anniversary of one of the biggest stories in Huron County for many years.
