READERS FORUM - Hope Riders give time to MDA

On behalf of the Cleveland Muscular Dystrophy Association I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the participants of the 3rd Annual Norwalk Hope Ride, for coming to this year's MDA Summer Camp at Camp Cheerful in Strongsville last month. MDA Summer Camp is a week-long camp for children with neuromuscular diseases. For the last three years Hope Riders have come to camp on Visitors Day to spend time with the campers, help serve food and take campers on sidecar rides.

Norwalk Firefighters Jamie Starcher and John Soisson began the Hope Ride on behalf of Nathan and Matthew Lucal, Norwalk brothers who have been diagnosed with congenital muscular dystrophy.

For the last three years, Starcher and Soisson have organized a group of motorcyclists from Norwalk, Sheffield and Strongsville to ride to Camp Cheerful and spend time with the campers.

This year excited campers and volunteers watched as more than 75 riders roared into camp on motorcycles. Their presence at camp this year brought smiles to many faces. We appreciate all the Hope Riders for their time and support and hope to see them back next year.
