NEW LONDON - Thirteen members of the New London Quilt Guild exhibited 87 of their pieces at the guild's first annual quilt show June 23 at the New London Grange Hall.

Guild president Cathy Ake said the purpose of the show was to introduce the club to the area and invite interested people to get involved in the organization.

In addition to the quilt displays, visitors to the show were shown demonstrations of various kinds and had an opportunity to become acquainted with four vendors: Thymbles from Smithville, Olla Mae's Drygoods from Oberlin, Sew Little Time, Ltd. from Norwalk and Nifty Needle from Norwalk.

The club is raffling off chances ($1 each, 6 for $5) on a flower basket quilt, with the drawing scheduled for Sept. 2 at the Labor Day Festival, where club members are tentatively planning to have an exhibit.

The club meets at 7 p.m. at the New London United Methodist Church at 58 E. Main St. the second and fourth Wednesday of each month, with the next meeting this week.

Besides Ake, club officers are Lynette Hissong, treasurer and Carol Schaffer, secretary. For more information contact Ake at (419) 929-4631 or Schaffer at (419) 929-8598.
