MILAN A local man was arrested and charged with abduction and assault after an argument with his girlfriend.

Travis J. Butler, 20, 24 S. Edison Drive, was arrested Wednesday after his girlfriend reported he had "stomped" her and held her against her will in a bathroom at his residence.

According to a Milan police report, the woman, a friend and Butler had been out drinking at Butler's residence and the Wonder Bar, and were later joined by several other friends. An argument ensred, Butler told everyone to leave his residence, then "beat her head, smacked her in the nose and punched her a lot," police said.

She was hesitant to call authorities because there were warrants for her arrest in a different county, but eventually did. The woman was taken to a hospital and treated for injuries. Then she was transported to the Erie County jail to await a hearing on the warrant issue.

Butler was arrested without incident Thursday.
