Mayor Sue Lesch issued a proclamation that delcared June 3 to 9 as National Garden Week in the city of Norwalk. The mayor shared this proclamation with members of Norwalk's Town and Country Garden Club at Bresson Park.

"Bresson Park is a showplace for Uptown Norwalk, providing a beautiful, restful place for people to gather," the mayor said.

The club, whose theme is "Flowers and Friendship Forever," just celebrated its 51st anniversary. In keeping with the garden club's theme, its 23 members recently spent two days at Bresson Park, cleaning, mulching, trimming and providing new plantings for the citizens of Norwalk to enjoy. The club also maintains a small garden at Woodlawn Cemetery.

The club also recently purchased a "Blue Star Memorial" to be installed at the Veterans' Memorial Park on Shady Lane Drive. This nationally recognized memorial honoring the men and women of the armed forces will be dedicated Sept. 23.
