Slick roads lead to number of accidents

Local law enforcement agencies busy late last week

A number of traffic accidents were reported when inclement weather hit Huron County late last week. Here is a roundup of more than 20 accident reports handled by the Huron County Sheriff's Office (the complete weekend blotter was published in Monday's Reflector):

 

n 2:06 a.m. Friday: Received a report of a vehicle flipped upside down in a ditch at the corner of River and Washington roads. No one was in the vehicle at the time of the complaint.

n 4:22 a.m. Friday: Dispatchers received several 9-1-1 calls about a semi flipped over on U.S. 20. Citizens Ambulance, the Townsend Township Volunteer Fire Department and state Highway Patrol responded. A story about the crash was published in Saturday's issue.

n 4:35 a.m. Friday: Received a report of a possibly disabled vehicle on U.S. 250 just south of Ohio 18.

n 7:50 a.m. Friday: The state Highway Patrol reported there was a disabled vehicle on Peru Center Road, Monroeville.

11:57 a.m. Friday: Received a report of a disabled or suspicious vehicle on North Ohio 60, Wakeman.

n 3:50 p.m. Friday: Dispatchers received several 9-1-1 calls about a non-injury accident on North Ohio 60, Wakeman north of Lincoln Road.

n 4:12 p.m. Friday: Dispatchers received several 9-1-1 calls about a vehicle that rolled over on Sandhill Road, Bellevue, south of U.S. 20, and referred the report to the state Highway Patrol. North Central EMS and the Bellevue Fire Department also responded.

n 4:25 p.m. Friday: Dispatchers received a 9-1-1 call about a possible injury accident on North Ohio 99, Monroeville, north of he village limits. Dispatchers referred the report to the state Highway Patrol and advised North Central EMS. The Monroeville Police Department assisted at the scene.

n 4:55 p.m. Friday: Dispatchers received a 9-1-1 call about a non-injury accident on Cook Road, New London.

n 5:07 p.m. Friday: Dispatchers received a 9-1-1 call about an injury accident on Whittlesey Road north of Lais Road. North Central EMS and the Norwalk Fire Department also responded.

n 6:07 p.m. Friday: Dispatchers received a 9-1-1 call about a vehicle in a ditch on South Ohio 60, New London.

n 7:35 p.m. Friday: An area motorist reported being involved in a non-injury accident at the intersection of Fitchville River and Cook roads, New London.

n 7:39 p.m. Friday: Received a weapons complaint involving an incident near the intersection of U.S. 224 and Old State Road, Greenwich.

n 7:47 p.m. Friday: An area motorist reported being involved in a non-injury accident at the intersection of Rome Greenwich Road and U.S. 250, New London.

n 9:13 p.m. Friday: Dispatchers received a 9-1-1 call about a four-wheeler fire at the intersection of DeRussey and Crandall roads, Collins. Deputies responded with Citizens Ambulance and the Townsend Township Volunteer Fire Department.

n 9:13 p.m. Friday: Received a report of an accident at the intersection of Ohio 162 and Exchange Road, New London.

n 9:17 p.m. Friday: Dispatchers received a 9-1-1 call about a non-injury accident at the intersection of Ohio 60 and Ferry Road, Wakeman.

n 9:55 p.m. Friday: An area motorist reported being involved in a non-injury accident at the intersection of Ohio 61 and Settlement Road.

n 11:40 p.m. Friday: The Erie County Sheriff's Office reported a vehicle was in a ditch on Ohio 60, Wakeman, south of the Erie County line. Deputies reported the unoccupied vehicle isn't a hazard.

n 11:40 p.m. Friday: The Willard Police Department reported a vehicle was in a ditch at the intersection of Ohio 61 and Ohio 598, Willard, north of New Haven.

n 1:59 a.m. Saturday: Responded to a vehicle in a ditch on Ohio 61 north of Hasbrock Road.

n 6:32 a.m. Saturday: Dispatchers received a 9-1-1 call about a vehicle in a field on Hartland Center Road, Collins.

n 7:45 a.m. Saturday: Dispatchers received a 9-1-1 call about a vehicle in a ditch on North Ohio 60, Wakeman.
