Winter weather advisory issued

A few inches of snow expected in Huron County.

Huron County remains under a winter weather advisories.

The advisory, which started at 7 p.m. Thursday, will be in effect until 7 p.m. today.

An accumulation of 2 to 4 inches of snow is expected.

Snow accumulation can make roads slick, requiring lower speeds and greater distances between vehicles while driving. Visibility will be reduced from snow and blowing snow.

A winter weather advisory is normally issued for a variety of winter weather conditions such as light snow, blowing snow, sleet, freezing rain and wind chills. While the weather will be significant, the word advisory implies that severe winter weather is not anticipated.

Here is the seven-day forecast provided by the National Weather Service:

Friday Snow showers. High near 34. Windy, with a northwest wind 18 to 26 mph, with gusts as high as 43 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Friday Night Snow showers likely, mainly before 8pm. Cloudy, with a low around 26. Windy, with a northwest wind 23 to 28 mph, with gusts as high as 39 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.

Saturday A chance of snow showers before noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 34. Breezy, with a west wind 14 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Saturday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 22. Southwest wind 9 to 11 mph.

Sunday Mostly sunny, with a high near 37.

Sunday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 22.

Monday Partly sunny, with a high near 34.

Monday Night Mostly cloudy, with a low around 28.

Christmas Day Mostly cloudy, with a high near 35.

Tuesday Night Mostly cloudy, with a low around 25.

Wednesday A chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 32. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Wednesday Night Snow likely. Cloudy, with a low around 24. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Thursday Snow likely. Cloudy, with a high near 30. Blustery. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
