A Huron County grand jury has indicted a local woman already preparing to stand trial on charges of theft of drugs and safecracking.

Minniebelle A. Yates, 30, of 79 N. Railroad St., New London, received a new theft of drugs felony charge during last week's grand jury session.

Yates already was scheduled for trial Jan. 24 in Huron County Common Pleas Court, having pleaded innocent in October to one count each of theft of drugs and safecracking, which is punishable by as much as three years in prison and a total fine of $10,000. Each of those felonies is in connection with an Aug. 7 incident.

Yates is out on a $15,000 bond. She is prohibited from having any association with the male victim.

In February, Yates was arrested on warrants at a rural Wakeman residence. The resident there was charged with a crime for allegedly denying Yates was there.

The contempt of court warrants were from the original convictions of theft and driving under the influence (DUI).

In April 2008, Yates was placed on two years of intensive probation for the theft conviction. About a year later, she was ordered to spend 40 days in jail after the court found she violated her probation by testing positive for marijuana twice in 10 days, according to court records. Yates also had her probation extended for another year.

Yates' DUI conviction in late January 2009 was for a Dec. 30, 2008 traffic stop by the New London Police Department.

She served 19 days in jail after her February arrest.

I don't know judge Conway. Are we seeing a pattern here? How many more people that are already charged with something going to be arrested again for the same thing before we start keeping them in jail? How many more innocent people are we going to subject to these wasted life forms? Put them away. They are scum. Every time you let them out all they do is go and try to steal from someone else. Enough is enough.

What a shame she made poor choices and will have felonies following her everywhere.

Building up her frequent flier miles at the jail to cash in @ her trial for another get out of jail free card.
