Police have determined a rape allegation involving a 39-year-old man is unfounded.

The Norwalk Police Department received the report of a suspected sexual assault at 10:22 p.m. Sunday. The alleged victim was a 13-year-old Norwalk girl and police said the girl's family knows the family of the accused man.

"She alleged she was raped (Sunday). ... This information came to other people and it finally got to us," Capt. Mike Conney said.

"Everyone involved was interviewed and based (what they said) in the interviews, it couldn't have happened," he said.

Conney said the girl recanted her story and denied the man inappropriately touched her.

"She blamed it on someone screwing up her words," he said.

Police forwarded the case to the detective bureau for follow-up.

"Based on what they have so far, no charges will be filed," Conney said. "It was classified as unfounded."

parents be aware of your children and who they are around...this may have all been unfounded but still dont turn your back when this at this age and especially if a man this age is overly friendly with your teenage daughter...dont be nieve!

READ THE ARTICLE!!! onegirlarmy. Unfounded!!! The girl recanted! She denied it happened! Police officer says, 'It couldn't have happened."!!! The article never says he was overfriendly! No charges will be filed! This means the man is innocent. Stop acting like the man is guilty just by being a man. This is what happens when people overreact to third hand misinformation. And it's spelled 'naive.'

well miss/mr Jamie9700...i did say it was unfounded!!!hope you will agree...and dont screw up my words...this girl needs help and this man needs to stay away from 13yr old girls!!however you want to spell it...you'd be "naive" to think otherwise...we should always be cautious...we have dr.s,teachers and priests who abuse our kids.

Yes, unfortunately there are many children who are hurt by people they should be able to trust. But what about the other kids who FABRICATE accusations and ruin the lives of the adults they FALSELY accuse? What consequences do THOSE kids get?

like i said...she needs help...something tells me something is wrong here...hopefully a life lesson.
