Joe and Barb Widman, of Norwalk, plus Barb’s son, will appear on today’s “Dr. Phil” episode entitled “Mama’s Boys.”

According to the show’s website, Joe says his stepson, Rendall, is a 25-year-old mama’s boy who is currently funding his college education with a $50,000 loan, which Joe’s wife, Barb, co-signed. Rendall insists he’s not taking advantage of his mom.

Currently unemployed, does he have plans to pay back the loan, or will he let his mom foot the bill? Can Dr. Phil help Rendall get traction to succeed on his own?

The show also will feature Barbara Streisand promoting her new film with Seth Rogan about a mother and son on a road trip.

Maybe v- Alive just got off work?

Why question what time someone is on their computer, isn't that childish?

vicariouslyAlive

yes, i was on at 1:15am. yes i have a child, and no i don't go to bed until most people are waking up. that is because i WORK the 2nd shift to EARN the money that i pay INTO the government instead of being a SOCIAL LEECH. so please try to psycho analyze me again.

PsychSixx

"Social Leech" ? Funny how you are on a social site, defending yourself.

starryeyes83

So are you.

What's your excuse?

PsychSixx

Also, it sounds like you really know who Rendall is.....but i dont think you do. If you did, you wouldnt mind stating your name to prove to everyone that you were his friend in high school, or just some biased angry person. I dont see why any of this concerns you, because he isn't abusing the government money- unless you have proof of that. if so, please share. If you don't well, i guess that'll do from you.

vicariouslyAlive

yes, i met rendall at the ripe old age of 5 years old, thanks to the norwalk public school system. although we have not been close friends, i did go to school with him k-12. am i angry? sort of, i pay taxes out of the money that i earn so people can choose not to work. and anyone who physically and mentally can handle a job and CHOOSE not to have one is an abuser of the system. i chose to maintain a sense of anonymity, but for those that know me, it's not hard to guess who i am. what concerns me is the message and example that he is setting for other young adults nation wide... that's it's ok to live and thus thrive on the backs of others. no goal, no responsibility, only ambition. dreamers dream, and doers do.

PsychSixx

then you would know that rendall came to the norwalk public school system in the 3rd grade. "Not close friends" your story doesnt have much backbone to it so far. Well i dont know who you are so, so i'm still saying, that you are biased. I dont understand the thing that he is setting, he is going to school full time, working on making a dream happen. Sorry he got out of the trap that Norwalk holds on people. Give him some support for actually trying to do that, instead of hating on the kid. He may do you a favor one day.

Ellis dee

With a name like rendall id mooch too

Dr. Information

Never understood why people go on a talk show to show the nation how dysfunctional someone in their family is or how they live their lives. While we are all most definitely not perfect, I personally would leave the issues and home and not air my laundry for all to see and speculate on. Dr. Phil gets paid to tell people the most obvious answers. Its like they have to go on TV to finally realize the issue at hand when 99% of people sitting at home could have told you the same thing.

thirtysomething

I don't understand why family members are so upset by what is being said on this forum. I didn't watch the show, but I'm guessing that the young man's parents were asking for help getting this kid to live a life that's productive. Most of what is being said here is in agreement with that. Soo, where's the problem? My advice is for his mom to watch the episode in the privacy of her home and hopefully she will be able to see where the Dr. is coming from. Another thought...he may be an aspiring musician, but aspiring musicians can work too. Hey- it may inspire him to work harder and make his dream come true!

starryeyes83

Is Phil even a real doctor?

PsychSixx

why? Interested?

starryeyes83

No. BUT it sounds like you are.

My brother certainly NOT interested. Whether this is a joke or not, Rendall would never even consider. And no one needs to bash me for speaking for him, I am 1000% sure his answer would be "no".

Ellis Dee- i can tell that you are incompetent and dont have much of a brain, i say this because you are talking about an Adult Industry. I think you are on the wrong site.

PsychSixx

Also- your username...really? you think your funny because you aren't fooling anyone. Get away from your little crappy computer because i'm sure you stole it, because you couldnt pay the bills, because you were buying to much "Ellis Dee"

Any Rage Against The Machine fans here? Rendall playing Bulls On Parade.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U...

vicariouslyAlive

i am a rage against the machine fan... pretty big one actually... and what they did to that song is cruel and unusual... besides... someone wearing sparkles shouldn't be singing Zack's words and someone wearing designer jeans shouldn't be playing Tom's chords... not to mention the half dozen missed notes in the first 20 seconds of the song. listen to the original, then listen to that crap, and please tell me im wrong. if he wants to be a musical superstar, the least he could do is if he's going to attempt to play someone else's song, not hack away at it like he's butchering meat... if he's not workin the least he could do is practice.

PsychSixx

VicariouslyAlive- or whatever...are you seriously commenting on a song that this kid did at his school? Wow.....find something more important to talk about.

Contango

@ sck:

Thanks for the heads up! More of a Metallica fan myself; seen ‘em twice.

Startin' to look like maybe Dr. Phil got "played."

As is said: When you're in the entertainment business, there's no such thing as bad publicity.

betrump

And yet can't even spell 'Metallica' right. That explains a lot, though.

starryeyes83

... Both of you spelled " Metallica" the same way. It's spelled that way on my old LP.

betrump

She went back and edited after the fact.

O Tay.

Kottage Kat

Have known and loved Joe Widman like a brother, have only known Barb via Joe. Their personal struggles were unknown to me until the article appeared. Asking for help and being critizied (sp) for that, well golly gee doesn't that make all the critic's special and sinless. Airing their "dirty knickers" took courage and intestional fortitude. I stand and applaud them for doing so. Hope the advice given will be heeded, and applied. God Bless you Joe and Barb.
