Joe and Barb Widman, of Norwalk, plus Barb’s son, will appear on today’s “Dr. Phil” episode entitled “Mama’s Boys.”

According to the show’s website, Joe says his stepson, Rendall, is a 25-year-old mama’s boy who is currently funding his college education with a $50,000 loan, which Joe’s wife, Barb, co-signed. Rendall insists he’s not taking advantage of his mom.

Currently unemployed, does he have plans to pay back the loan, or will he let his mom foot the bill? Can Dr. Phil help Rendall get traction to succeed on his own?

The show also will feature Barbara Streisand promoting her new film with Seth Rogan about a mother and son on a road trip.

Did Joe keep his shoes for the show or did he taken them off like he did when he coached basketball?

Contango

Watched the show.

IMO, Rendall talked in circles, Joe talked inadequacy in his marriage, Barb talked nonsense and Dr. Phil talked tough love.

Conclusion: Nothing solved.

Suggestion: Don’t go on TV if you don’t want to air your family's "dirty laundry" in public.

Nice that Norwalk wasn't mentioned since it has more than enough problems thankyouverymuch.

PsychSixx

I'd like to see you get up and talk on national tv. lets see how you do.

@ PsychSixx:

Re-read the fourth sentence.

starryeyes83

@ ren,, er psychSixx.

Meaning you didn't do very well.

twig

Capstudent...this is Dr. Twig, my advice is to join the military. Your brother needs to stand on his own two feet. Nothing Uncle Sam can't fix.

capstudent

Say what you will, but you only know what you've read and seen. I know his life and his personality.

KnuckleDragger

I doubt that will ever happen twig, it would put up a significant roadblock in his quest to become a rock star, as if that will ever happen.

This will more than likely get erased but i think the Norwalk Reflector isn't worth buying. Maybe the reason so many of you are online bashing people. I understand many of you don't have anything better to do than write obscene things about other people that you don't have any clue about. I've been Rendall's cousin for 24 and a half years. He has great friends and family and they will support him no matter what. Thanks for all of your concerns but we don't care. Mess with one of us and you'll get the whole bunch. Sincerely- Blake Schaffer

capstudent

That's right, Blake! And even from the non-Schaffer side! Family knows how to handle it :)

starryeyes83

Good for you, remember those words when he needs a place to crash. he will probably end up in your basement.

Oh and about the posting on the job comment: Since I'm married to the boss, I guess he won't mind :)

KnuckleDragger

I'm sure you've got everyone trembling in fear. LMAO!

PsychSixx

KnuckleDragger- your comments really bring out your username.

haterwalkme

just hope it is not like last couple from norwalk that was on the doc show and after the show they go and rob the drug store LOL

After watching the show, I have a different take. Whether his mother and step-father realized it or not, I believe it was an attempt by the son to put his name and face on a national market in hopes it will lead to his dreams of fame and fortune. He wanted to get his face, voice and ambition in front of a national audience. Next logical step - reality show. I know it might help the local economy, but I sure hope a reality show doesn't set up shop here.

capstudent

That would be all well and good if he was the one who contacted the show, but he's not. Grow up.

PsychSixx

Abc- first off, i'm happy that you know your alphabet. Secondly- he didnt contact the show, didnt want to be on it in the first place, but he did it out of respect for his mother. Who knows the comments that would be written, if he DIDNT show up. Lastly, have you ever heard of a producer? I assume not, because you think just a kid would be in charge of the whole show and how it would be filmed, edited, and printed, but you dont. Producers were in charge of everything you saw- he didnt have a say in the matter of how it was going to go down. And dont worry, a reality show wont be setting up shop anywhere near Norwalk, he lives in CALIFORNIA NOOOOOW!

monsterstickerd...

Well sweetheart if you were married to me I'd tell you to grow up :) rendall has no criminal record also so he won't be robbing anything and my Aunt Barb went on the show for advice not for the Norwalk Rejector to publicize it and make it something its not.

starryeyes83

it's a national show, and a public newspaper... what do you expect? dearie?

Ellis dee

Why did joe take his shoes off. I remember him doing that but never knew why

abc456

After watching the show, I have a different take. His mother and step-father probably weren't in on the deal, but after watching the young man perform on the show I believe he was simply trying to get a national audience to find the connections he is looking for to advance his career. Next step - reality show. Then whatever else will get his face and voice on the air.

KnuckleDragger

Yeah, and his performance was below average. Not much chance of him making it in the entertainment world.

PsychSixx

spoken like a true knuckle dragger. What are you doing with your life?

indytrucker

I didn't know that you could collect unemployment benefits so you can network. This is why I can't support extending unemployment benefits. Get off your butt and get a job.

PsychSixx

As for you- first off, you make me laugh every time I read your short little answers that come in at the most random times, and they have only have to do with one thing. You're a funny one. i'm just gonna let you be. Think on that.

starryeyes83

I take it you're the mommy.

PsychSixx

i take it that you are a child, because your comments show lack of intelligence.

starryeyes83

Ha, older than you most likely, and pretty damn jaded. get your rose colored glasses off.

You show lack of common sense.

vicariouslyAlive

the fact that he sounded proud to live on benefits is just astounding... as for the publicity... Rendall came off as pompous and arrogant... pointing a finger at his mother and dictating what she will or will not do... completely disgraceful, even if it were to her benefit to not pick up a second job, disgraceful. the kid lives in a dream world financed by not only his mother, but the federal government at this point. he is part of the problem, perfectly capable of having and holding a job, but choosing not to so he can galavant about and try to get his name out. before seeing the show i was impartial, but after seeing the blissful ignorance of two thirds of that group of people, i feel disgusted... not in the people, but in the fact that there's more families in the very same situation... and in a few short years these idiots are expected to run the country? 2012 may not be the year of the doomsday prophecy, but it's not far off the mark.

PsychSixx

So you commented on this at 1:15 in the morning. I'm guessing you have kids or simply, cant sleep. I'm sorry to hear that you are up that late, maybe its because you have nothing better to do? I dont know, i dont know you or the whole story, so i will not judge because i know thats not right. Let the one without sin cast the first stone, right?
