Norwalk’s “first family of arm wrestling” has made the leap to prime time — almost. A pilot of a reality series based on the Norwalk family was posted on YouTube.com last month.
Twenty-one-year-old Boomer Reagan is a prodigy of arm wrestling who has beaten national and world champions. He is ranked highly in both professional and amateur arm wrestling. Last year, Reagan qualified for the 2006 Arnold Scwarzenegger Classic — which arm wrestlers covet more than a world championship title, according to Boomer’s father, Willie, a.k.a. Pork.
Willie, who is also highly ranked, coaches his son and travels with him to tournaments throughout the country.
Boomer is a member of the Norwalk-based PowerHouse arm Wrestling Team, which includes Willie and others Boomer's age.
The show also features family members, mom Julie and kid sister Kiersten, as well as Boomer’s fiancée, Devon.
The production company, Red Line Films, approached the Reagans after they appeared in an ESPN documentary about various sports called “Timeless.”
Red Line is currently shopping the show to the major networks and they have had some interest, Julie Reagan said. Whether it is actually put on the air, however, is a question of when the networks have the right hole in their schedule. “It could be a month from now. It could be a year from now,” Julie said.
