A man charged with the murder of a Pickaway County infant was taken into custody this afternoon in Sacramento, Calif.

Wayne “Wolf” Walker, 44, was arrested by U.S. marshals after his arrival in Sacramento aboard a bus from Lexington, Ky., Pickaway County Sheriff Dwight Radcliff said.

Radcliff said detectives developed information that led to Walker’s whereabouts. He also was wanted on an arrest warrant in California, where he formerly lived.

Walker is charged with the murder of 10-month-old Kyle Calton, who died Thursday at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Authorities said the boy died of brain injuries consistent with shaken-baby syndrome.

Kyle’s mother, Elizabeth Rutter, 24, called 911 early on Wednesday to report that she had found her son unresponsive in her home at 27355 Armstrong Rd. in the Laurelville area.

Walker was last seen near Rt. 23 south of Chillicothe. He had been living with Rutter for a few months after moving to Pickaway County, authorities said.
