An Illinois man is facing felony charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers discovered 23 boxes of counterfeit merchandise during a traffic stop on the Ohio Turnpike in Wood County.

Troopers stopped a 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan, with Illinois registration, for a marked lanes violation on the Ohio Turnpike, near milepost 71, at 10:15 a.m. Thursday.

Criminal indicators were observed and a consent search was granted by the driver. The consent search revealed 2,592 knit hats with professional sport logos, 940 sets of contact lenses, 240 animal hats and 80 fluid filled flip lighters.

The driver, Yoon Keol Chung, 47, of Mt. Prospect, Ill., was charged with trademark counterfeiting and criminal simulation, both a fourth-degree felonies and incarcerated in the Wood County Jail. If convicted, he could face up to three years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.

Their isn't such a thing as counterfeit in China.

Cliff Cannon

@ hit the road jack: Bingo ! Read once, of a company from Johnsonville,Wisc.that made a cooker for their famous brats. The chinese simply bought one, copied it, then put the company out of business with a cheaper product

Obviously, that's one case of a "mere" 90 job, 60 year old company being chased from business by them. Sure would be interesting to know how many patents, they have stolen, wouldn't it?

i would like to know what the heck are all these criminal indicators are that you keep reading about...i think the cops make them up...and it is your word against theirs...why don't they tell us what the criminal indicators are

I would like to know too. Also, seems like alot of people are guilty of "marked lane violations".

Swamp Fox

Oh yes the famous OSP "marked lane violation." The new motto of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, "The Constitution is s deterrent to effective law enforcement statistics."

I googled criminal indicators. I think everyone shows these indicators even the LEO that is pulling you over at the time. In the end it is an opinion call and you know what LEO's opinion is going to be.

What about the shop across Whittlesey from the fire station advertising "Coach" purses in their window? You don't have to look too far to find counterfeit goods these days.
