Elisa Luna, daughter of David and Marianne Luna, graduated with summa cum laude honors from Walsh University in North Canton. She earned a bachelor of science degree in biology with a pre-medicine emphasis and a psychology minor. She is pursuing a master of science degree in health sciences as well as certification in physician assistant studies. To graduate with summa cum laude honors, a student must have an overall grade-point average of 3.9 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Ohio University has announced the names of 3,310 students from the Athens campus who have been named to the dean's list for the 2007 winter term. To be named to the dean's list, a student must have earned a grade-point average of at least a 3.5 for the quarter and have earned a minimum of 16 quarter hours, 12 of which were taken for letter grades.

Willard: Zachary Robinson, junior, chem pre-medicine.

CBS News correspondent Steve Hartman challenged the Defiance College class of 2007 to give something back to society as they set forth with diplomas in hand.

Hartman, a native of Toledo, was the guest speaker at the 120th commencement ceremonies held recently.

"You're graduating from one of the most globally caring, socially conscious schools in America," Hartman told the graduates. "Whether you're aware or not, your professors were grooming you not just to get a job but to give something back - to make the world a better place because you're a part of it."

Among those receiving a diploma was Renee Chaffee, of Milan.

Samantha Boyd, an occupational therapy major, has enrolled as a freshman at The University of Findlay for the 2007-08 academic year.

A 2007 graduate of Western Reserve High School, she was active in choir, drama and theater, National Honor Society, Spanish club, cross country, basketball and track.

Boyd was awarded the dean's scholarship from the university.

Boyd is the daughter of James and Ann Boyd, of Wakeman.

Ashley Burras, a physical therapy major, has enrolled as a freshman at The University of Findlay for the 2007-08 academic year.

A 2007 graduate of Edison High School, she was active in tennis, band, Chargerettes, track, National Honor Society, French Honor Society and math club.

Burras was awarded the trustee's scholarship from the university.

Burras is the daughter of Sandy and Scott Burras, of Norwalk.

Sarah Heidl, a pre-medicine major, has enrolled as a freshman at The University of Findlay for the 2007-08 academic year.

A 2007 graduate of Western Reserve High School, she was active in National Honor Society, French club, Who's Who, honor roll and softball.

Heidl was awarded the president's scholarship from the university. Heidl is the daughter of Rachelle and William Heidl, of Norwalk.

Meagan Music, a pre-veterinary medicine major, has enrolled as a freshman at The University of Findlay for the 2007-08 academic year.

A 2007 graduate of Norwalk High School, she was active in student council, National Honor Society, 4-H, track and cross country.

Music was awarded the dean's scholarship from the university.

Music is the daughter of Michelle Giles, of Norwalk, and Brett Music.

Cory Nardecchia, a physical therapy major, has enrolled as a freshman at The University of Findlay for the 2007-08 academic year.

A 2007 graduate of Norwalk High School, he was active in band, choir, orchestra, Key club, student council, National Honor Society, Buckeye Boys' State and the golf and swim teams.

Nardecchia was awarded the president's scholarship from the university. Nardecchia is the son of Susan and Donald Nardecchia, of Norwalk.

Rachel Marie Blair was inducted into the Beta Theta Eta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at North Central State College on June 3. Blair, of Greenwich, is the daughter of Wayne and Patricia Barnett of Shiloh , and is married to Matt Blair of Greenwich.
