Hope Ride set for June 20

For the third year in a row Norwalk Firefighters Local 1199 has formed a special bond with Matthew and Nathan Lucal of Norwalk who have both been diagnosed with congenital muscular dystrophy. These firefighters are dedicated to helping MDA and the many other families like the Lucals. On June 20, Jamie Starcher and John Soisson of the Norwalk Fire Department will rally together any willing participants at the fire station and ride to MDA summer camp at Camp Cheerful in Strongsville for the third annual Hope Ride. This event is a joy for the children at camp to hear the roars of more than 50 bikes riding into camp. But it is also a great pleasure for the firefighters and fellow riders who have a wonderful time raising money to benefit MDA and spending the afternoon cooking, serving lunch and playing with the children attending MDA camp. Proceeds from the Hope Ride will not only fund MDA's Summer Camp, but help families in the Northeastern Ohio area in many ways. MDA provides assistance with the purchases of wheelchairs, leg braces, and communication devices for clients and funds local support groups. MDA also maintains a clinic at Metro Health Medical Center.
