Freelance artist Del Hewitt Jr. is raising funds through a website to bring his late friend's comic book character to life.

African-American bounty hunter Ebony Kiss is the creation of Bernard Busby, who died of cancer in 2008.

Staff writer Cary Ashby talked with Hewitt for a story published in Saturday's issue of the Norwalk Reflector.

Anyone interested in supporting Hewitt's fundraising campaign can do so by logging onto the Ebony Kiss Kickstarter page: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1011146139/ebony-kiss-indy-comic.

I'm not an expert of making online donations, but i'll see what I can do. I hope Hewitt's creative dream will live on, this comic looks very interesting. We need more original works like this in the world of entertainment these days especially with comic books, they just aren't the way they used to be. This much effort put into an original creation deserves alot of credit.

Warhol_89, I don't usually do online donations either, but I did here. It was just so refreshing to hear Del say he knew Bernard wouldn't want anything graphic in his work. And especially cool when Del talked about what an inspiration his friend was. You're right on --  "this much effort put into an original creation [DEFINITELY] deserves alot of credit." I hope Del reaches his $9,500 goal.

ROFLMAO

So for every story the reflector does about a white guy- do they make the subtitle- "White Guy Factory Worker gets 3rd DUI." Is the fact that he is black that much of a novelty to Norwalk? Seems really funny, and irrelevant.
