UPDATE - Woman sustains life-threatening injuries in wreck

Van crashes into tree in rural Monroeville.

A woman is fighting for her life in a Toledo hospital after a van crashed into a tree on Peru Center Road in rural Monroeville.

The accident took place just after 11 a.m. today when the southbound Mercury Villager minivan went off the east side of the road on the opposite side of Standardsburg Road at slammed into a tree at 2918 Peru Center Road.

The male driver and female passenger were flown in separate LifeFlight helicopters to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo.

The Norwalk post of the state Highway Patrol has released the names of the accident victims: Todd L. Picklesimer, 42, of 312 S. Main St., Willard, and Lori A. Atkins, 37, of the same address. Drug use has been listed as a contributing factor in the crash, troopers said.

Don't know what happened and don't want to presume, but people fly on that road like they're running moonshine. Clocked em at 90 plus before. Folks gotta be careful on these roads. Never know when Natures Speedbumps will be dead in the road now that the vultures have left. It's especially slippery at the intersections, gravel, dampness, and all. Check out the intersection of Johnson annd Peru Center road. Be careful!

"Just read the register version. Picklesimer was thrown the from vehicle and suffered incapacitating injuries. Picklesimer was not wearing a seat belt".

"Drug impairment is considered to be a factor in the crash, troopers said".
