MEMORIAL DAY EVENTS

BELLEVUE Lyme Township Memorial Service will be held at 7 p.m., Sunday, at Lyme Grange Hall, U.S. 20, Lyme Township. The local American Legion post will serve as color guard. Speakers will be Matt Burr and Rev. Bruce Kent. BERLIN HEIGHTS Edison High and Berlin-Milan Middle School students will be among those marching in a 9 a.m. Memorial Day parade Monday from the middle school to riverside cemetery and back to Memorial Park. There will be music and a speaker at the cemetery, as well as a speaker at the park.

BERLIN HEIGHTS Edison High and Berlin-Milan Middle School students will be among those marching in a 9 a.m. Memorial Day parade Monday from the middle school to riverside cemetery and back to Memorial Park. There will be music and a speaker at the cemetery, as well as a speaker at the park.

FITCHVILLE Memorial Day services will begin at 2 p.m. Monday at the township hall, conducted by American Legion Post 729. The speaker will be Clark Hunter, a U.S. Army veteran and retired Huron County Clerk of Courts. A march to the Fitchville Cemetery will follow, with a color guard, veterans and the New London High School band. For more information, call (419) 929-8890.

GREENWICH A parade will proceed at 11 a.m. Monday from downtown to the reservoir park, where a laying of the wreath will take place at the Veterans Memorial. There will also be a 21-gun salute and the playing of taps. The speaker will be U.S. Navy Vet. Jeff Ellis 21 gun salute. If it rains, the events will take place at the fire station.

LYME TOWNSHIP The Color Guard and Firing Squad from Sch-Loe-Man Post 547 of the American Legion will participate Sunday night in the annual memorial program at the Lyme Garage on U.S. 20, east of Bellevue. The program begins at 7.

At 6 a.m. Monday, the Ladies Auxiliary will serve breakfast to all participants in the Legion Hall. At 6:45, there will be visits to area cemeteries. Line up for the 10 a.m. parade begins at 9:45 at Monroeville High School. The parade will proceed to the park.

MILAN The village will celebrate Memorial Day beginning with the retiring of colors at 6:30 p.m. Sunday in the village square. At 7 a.m. Monday, new flags will be erected. Following that, there will be ceremonies at the Bloomingville Cemetery on Mason Road West and the St. John Cemetery on Mason Road. The Memorial Day parade leaves the village square at about 11 a.m. Monday, proceeds to the Milan Cemetery and returns to the square, where the Edison High School band will perform a short concert. MONROEVILLE The Memorial Day parade in the village will begin at 10 a.m. Monday in front of the high school and conclude at Memorial Park. Once there, the local American Legion will conduct a service and the Rev. Amy Little of Trinity Lutheran Church will speak. The ceremony will also include the laying of a wreath. Before the parade, the American Legion will visit Riverside Cemetery and St. Joseph Cemetery to place flags by graves.

NEW LONDON Memorial Day activities will begin with a breakfast served from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Monday at the American Legion Hall at 185 N. Main St.

Services will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery at 8:45 a.m. and at Grove Street Cemetery at 9, followed by the parade, which will start at the Legion at 10 and end in the park beside the library. The speaker for the service will be Richard Smothers.

NORWALK The Memorial Day parade will start at street department Monday and proceed to Woodlawn Cemetery for a service at 10. Line-up is at 9 a.m., with the parade starting at 9:30.

PLYMOUTH A Memorial Day parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the square, and proceed to Greenlawn Cemetery, where local police officer and Marine Reggie Ganzhorn will speak. The procession will then return to the American Legion, where a meal will be served. If it rains, the ceremony will be held at the legion.

SHILOH There will be a Memorial Day Service at 7:45 a.m. Monday at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Parade participants will line up at 8:45 and proceed at 9 from the elementary school to the American Legion, where a ceremony will take place.

WILLARD A Memorial Day parade will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, starting at the corner of West Pearl and Dale and ending at Maple Grove Cemetery. The guest speaker will be Ed Anderson of American Legion Post 83, and the State of Ohio Commander for the American Legion. Members of the American Legion Auxiliary and VFW will lay a wreath, followed by a 21-gun salute ad the playing of taps. Refreshments will then be available at the VFW Post.
