Sandusky police charged a man with murder Wednesday, less than two hours after the woman he lived with was found dead in a pool of blood.
Theodis Michael Keys, Jr., 33, was held in the Erie County jail. He also is wanted by authorities in Douglas County, Ga.
Police responded about 1:40 p.m. to a report that a woman was lying dead in the bathroom area of a residence in the 100 block of East Follett Street. She was identified as Lorie (Golliver) Miller, 33.
Key, her live-in boyfriend, was identified as a person of interest, and he turned himself in at the sheriff's office about 3:30 p.m. He was driving Miller's car, police said.
Dr. Brian Baxter, Erie County coroner, said an autopsy would be performed by the Lucas County coroner's office.
According to the Sandusky Register, the woman's oldest of her two sons came home from school and found his mom lying in blood in the bathroom. He called 9-1-1.
Miller graduated from Margaretta High School in 1998. She was employed at Kalahari Resort in Sandusky.
This slaying comes a little more than a month after another Sandusky mom and her two young children were killed.
In that case, Curtis Clinton, 41, of 2027 Campbell St. Sandusky, was indicted by an Erie County grand jury on five counts of aggravated murder, three counts of rape, and one count of aggravated burglary. If convicted, the Sandusky man accused of killing a woman and her two young children could face the death penalty.
He is accused in the Sept. 8 deaths of Heather Jackson, 23, Celina Jackson, 3, and Wayne Jackson, Jr., 18 months. The three were found dead in a John Street home in Sandusky.
Prosecutor Kevin Baxter said the five aggravated murder counts are for the three victims -- one for Ms. Jackson and two each for the children because they were younger than 13. Two of the rape counts are for an unrelated case, in which Clinton is accused of raping a 17-year-old girl on Sept. 2; the third is for the alleged sexual assault of the 3-year-old girl. The aggravated burglary is related to the John Street killings. Clinton is being held in the Erie County jail in lieu of $3 million bond.
