Though West Main Street in the uptown Norwalk area might be under heavy construction for a waterline replacement, businesses still are open.

Kristie Wert, Main Street Norwalk program manager, stressed this point Wednesday as the West Main Street project enters its final stages right in the downtown.

"We want residents to know parking is still available at the parking lot on Church Street and also behind Berry's," Wert said. "Also, parking on East Main Street is still open."

Beginning today and running through Friday, West Main Street will be closed from Benedict Avenue to Case/Church streets for the project.

The formal detour and truck route will be Main Street to Newton Street, Newton to League Street, League to Whittlesey Avenue and vice versa from U.S. 250 to Ohio 61 westbound.

Locals are encouraged to use alternate routes.

Then, beginning Monday and running through Oct. 24, West Main Street will be closed from Benedict Avenue to Case/Church streets again for the waterline project.

The same detour will be used.
