A motion to hire two substitute custodians and a substitute bus driver barely passed in Monroeville, and not without a little controversy.
Board of education member Scott Sparks said he's not sure who is currently on board in those positions and there has been a lot of turnover.
Superintendent David Stubblebine, in response to a question from Sparks, said he hadn't thought to tell him every time a substitute bus driver or custodian resigns. The exchange appeared to cause some brief tension between the two.
The measure to hire Chris Gravenhorst and Cathy Reineck as a sub custodians and Lisa Hale as a substitute bus driver passed 3 to 2. Council president Nancy Brown also voted no, saying she wanted more information before voting for approval.
The board also discussed the possible need for a weekend custodian and considered undergoing a self-assessment.
A story about these another matters discussed by Monroeville's school board was published recently in the Reflector.

Congratulations Mr Stubblebine... I think with you smug attitude displayed here, you can pretty much bet that you just killed any chance of passing that levy that the school does so desperately need...maybe it is you and your condescending attitude, and inability to work WITH the board that is setting Monroeville behind... maybe it is time to be moving along...in my opinion
Mr. Stubblebine is doing a great job with a great school system. Please support all our area schools, teachers and children.
Are you kidding evansfh? Stubblebine is a D!ck. You must have your head in the sand.
that 7 little "somolians" oer month is on top of the 1200 little somolians per year I now pay.
doent let your hate for one man get in the way think of kids sitting at there desk waiting for the roof to fall in vote for the levy
We woulnt want them to have there rists broke and get the saim skooling u did, rite, BL*%?
In all fairness many feel the children are what seems to matter the least to present admin. Attend meetings & dis-agree agendas. See what happens. Gertin = Stubbdine imo. + look at the way the "system" taxed the populace the last time....retired (dwellings paid for) folks, landed gentry, etc, dodged the increase on taxes. Translation....working poor, renters, single parents, etc, foot the burden. UNFAIR.
