Norwalk man pleads innocent to felonies

Suspect accused of tampering with evidence and theft

Matthew S. Griggs, 29, of 1243 S. Norwalk Road, pleaded innocent to one count each of tampering with evidence and theft during his arraignment Monday in Huron County Common Pleas Court.

His set for trial Jan. 29.

The tampering incident is suspected of happening between July 14 and 21 while the alleged theft is in connection with an Aug. 14 incident.

If convicted, Griggs faces up to 4 1/2 years in prison and a maximum fine totaling $15,000.

The defendant, who is out on a $15,000 bond, is prohibited from having any association or communication with the female victim. Griggs also is subject to random drug screens.
