An area man accused of stealing checks from a Willard church pleaded innocent felony charges Monday.
As a condition of his $7,500 bond, Benjamin C. Shepherd, 26, of Attica, is prohibited from being on the premises of the Willard Church of God and Missler's IGA. He posted the bond earlier.
Shepherd is scheduled to go to trial Jan. 31 in Huron County Common Pleas Court. He is charged with two counts of theft and one charge of theft of checks, all in connection with an Aug. 14 incident. If convicted, he faces as much as three years in prison and a maximum fine totaling $7,500.
