A Bellevue man pleaded guilty Monday to an amended safecracking charge.

Allan D. Andrews, 29, 717 E. Main St., will be sentenced Nov. 27 for attempted safecracking. The fifth-degree felony is punishable by six to 12 months behind bars and a maximum fine of $2,500. Since Andrews has a prior felony conviction, he could be sentenced to prison.

Between Oct. 10, 2011 through Feb. 10, Andrews obtained a key to his parents' safe and removed some unspecified items, Huron County Prosecutor Russell Leffler said. "He used that key to get into the safe to support his drug habit," he told Huron County Common Pleas Judge Jim Conway.

Oh look, is this a REPEAT offender? I know, "he needs rehab/help with his addiction, NOT jail"

Dusty

How is it safe cracking if he used the key?

PS

Probably because he "obtained", a.k.a. "stole" the key to break into the safe. It doesn't sound as though his parents gave him the key and gave him permission to take property out of the safe.

Dusty

I could see it being called theft but thats not what I'd call "Safe Cracking" I seen a few other druggys on here charged with safe cracking too. Sad time when you got to keep your stuff in a safe from your kids

PS

Isn't that the truth!! I can't imagine how the poor parents must feel.

I WOULD SAY THAT MOST OF THE CRIME IN HURON COUNTY IS DRUG RELATED.MAYBE IF THEY WOULD PUT THE JUNKIES AND DEALERS AWAY MAYBE THERE WOULDNT BE SO MUCH CRIME. I FORGOT CONWAY IS THE JUDGE I THINK HIM AND THE COPS GET SOME KIND OF KICK BACK FOR SENDING THEM TO REHAB OR THAT CCBF
