"The thieves tried to pry open a back window, but only cracked it. They then kicked open a utility room door and pried another door open with a crowbar to get in. They also kicked in another door inside the church to get to the banquet room. They broke the padlock on our lawn shed, but we did not find anything missing in there," Lillo said.

The following items were reported stolen: An Audio Centron 16-channel mixing board, two speakers, a five-disc compact disc player, a one-disc CD player, two Alvarez acoustic guitars, one cherry red bass guitar and $30 to $40 worth of pennies in a five-gallon water bottle that Sunday school students had saved.

Two boys cashed in a five-gallon water jug with $65 worth of pennies May 11 at National City Bank in Willard, but police haven't been able to a get positive ID on the suspects, Lillo said.
