A Norwalk man arrested after he was accused of assaulting his girlfriend has pleaded "no contest" to two lesser charges about a confrontation with police.

Devin J. McGinn, 25, of 57 Jefferson St., and his attorney, Huron County Public Defender David Longo, reached a plea agreement with Norwalk Assistant Law Director Scott Christophel.

McGinn originally was charged with one felony count each of assault on a police officer and vandalism. Thursday in Norwalk Municipal court, he pleaded "no contest" to one misdemeanor count each of resisting arrest and criminal damaging. The felonies were dismissed as part of the plea deal.

"I'm glad he doesn't have any felonies," McGinn's girlfriend, Rhonda Alsept, said after the hearing.
