COLLINS The Western Reserve Board of Education approved a new contract with Ohio Association of Public School Employees (OAPSE) last week, calling for a 1.75 percent across the board increase, which amounts to a 25 cents an hour raise in the base pay.

The 1.75 percent is in line with raises other employees received this year. The contract is retroactive to July 1, 2006 and runs for two years.

The board also approved an FFA trip to Washington Leadership Conference July 17 to 22 and an $81,570 contract with Simonson Construction of Ashland to renovate the life skills rooms.

No school funds will be used for the trip, and the money for the renovation will come from the 1/2 percent income tax which was designated for things such as buildings, books and buses.
