The suspected deadbeat dad didn't come to court twice this week.

Rodgess B. Jeter, 42, most recently of Toledo, didn't appear for his final pretrial hearing Monday in Huron County Common Pleas Court.

"Mr. Jeter reported transportation problems to Mr. Longo's office," Judge Conway said, referring to Huron County Public Defender David Longo.

Jeter also failed to appear for the same hearing, which was rescheduled for Wednesday morning.

"I looked in the hallway. He was not there," Longo informed the judge. "All I know is he is not here."

The public defender also checked his phone in between hearings, but had no messages from the defendant.

At the request of Huron County Prosecutor Russell Leffler, Conway issued a warrant for Jeter's arrest. His trial was scheduled to start this morning, but Conway said Jeter's final pretrial hearing and trial date would be rescheduled once he's arrested.

Jeter, who originally is from Sandusky, is charged with one count of non-support of dependents in connection with failing to pay court-ordered child support between Aug. 1, 2007 and July 31, 2009. It's unknown how much he owes.

"This dates back to a paternity suit from the mid-1990s," Longo said after Wednesday's hearing. "The case is over one child. The kid is now an adult."
