Sheriff's detectives recovered merchandise purchased with money believed to be stolen from a rural Bellevue farm.

The Huron County Sheriff's Office used a search warrant at an East Main Street, Bellevue, hotel early Monday evening. Detective Bill Duncan said deputies seized "a small portion of the money," the unspecified merchandise and a Ford Ranger pickup truck as evidence.

Before authorities used the warrant, Deputies Chip Deskins and Tod Wagner found the suspect, Tyler G. Smith, 18, of 223 Hamilton St., Bellevue, in the city and brought him to the station. "He made admissions about taking money from his employer," Duncan said.
