Historical society marking 150th

Last week I wrote about the Firelands Historical Society and its annual Walking Tours of the West Main Street Historic District, one of which is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday. This year is the 20th anniversary of the walking tours, and it is also the 150th birthday of the Historical Society. This year's annual meeting will be held May 16, very close to May 20, the date in 1857 when the Historical Society's organizational meeting was held. It would be great fun to go back in a time machine to attend that meeting and see all of the old-time pioneers who were there and listen to what they have to say. No doubt they each had a story to tell of years gone by when they first came to Ohio.
