Dream Theater to play Cleveland Aug. 11

Just got word the new Dream Theater album, "Systematic Chaos," will be released June 5. Also on the good-news front, Dream Theater will play the Time Warner Amphitheater at Tower City in Cleveland on Aug. 11. I saw Dream Theater in March 2006 at the Agora Theatre in Cleveland and did not have a good time as the theater was over sold. The Tower City facility holds many more people and that should mean a better concert experience. I never was a huge Dream Theater fan until the last few years. Their 1992 album "Images & Words" is one of my all-time favorite CDs. It's really too bad for the band because they've been trying to live up to that disc ever since.

On another note, the Tool show slated for July 1 at the DTE Energy Music Theatre, located north of Detroit, has been moved to July 3. Tickets for this concert are already on sale through Ticketmaster. Tool still is touring in support of its May 2006 release, "10,000 Days," which has sold more than 1.2 million copies.

Don't forget about the Heaven & Hell show May 11 at Tower City. This show will officially kick off my summer concert tour schedule.

This just happens to a year where just about every band I like has released a new CD and is touring.

Other shows of interest are Mastodon at the House of Blues in Cleveland on May 14 and Porcupine Tree at the House of Blues May 18 and at the Majestic Theatre in Detroit on May 30.

I've never seen Heaven & Hell, Mastodon or Porcupine Tree so May is looking like a good month.

Seems the good news just keeps coming.

The Star View drive-in theater will open Friday with a pair of good movies. The night begins with "Meet the Robinson's" at 8:45, followed by "Wild Hogs."

This pair of movies, combined with the predicted nice weather for this weekend, should mean a good crowd for opening weekend at the Star View.

The only thing about the Star View I'm nervous about is my son Benjamin is 19 months old. This is the age where they don't want to sit still, but won't watch the movie, either. I remember missing about half of "Van Helsing" a few years ago when my son Thomas just cried and crawled all over me for about 45 minutes. But it all comes with being a parent.
