Greenwich resident Elizabeth Gravely has been awarded a $4,000 director's scholarship to attend Ashland University based on her academic achievements. A senior attending South Central High School, she has been a member of the choir for the past five years. She is also an active member in the FFA. This past year she was named student of the year by South Central. She is the daughter of Robert and Rose Gravely of Greenwich. The renewable director's scholarship is presented to incoming freshman students based upon high school grade-point averages and ACT/SAT scores.

Greenwich resident Elizabeth Gravely has been awarded a $4,000 director's scholarship to attend Ashland University based on her academic achievements.

She is the daughter of Robert and Rose Gravely of Greenwich.

North Fairfield resident Melissa Siman will defend her senior thesis titled "A Well Ordered Home is my Chief Delight": Abigail Adams on women, Family and Politics in the American Republic" at 1 p.m. May 7 for the John M. Ashbrook Center for Public Affairs and the Ashland University academic honors program. The event will be in the Ashbrook Center, located on the eighth floor of the AU Library

Siman is the daughter of Dana and Sheila Siman of North Fairfield. She is a senior political science major and a 2003 home school graduate.

The defense involves a short presentation of the thesis and a follow-up question-and-answer session with a pre-selected faculty panel.

The following are members of Sigma Tau Delta at Ashland University.

Ashley Bethard of Collins is a member. She is the daughter of Charles and Lindaly Bethard and is majoring in English. Jordan Ray of Plymouth is a member. He is the son of Jeffrey and Teresa Ray and is majoring in English.

Cari Hahler, a native of Willard, will perform in the University Singers Family Concert at 3 p.m. Saturday, in the Winebrenner Theological Seminary TLB Convocation Center, adjacent to the University of Findlay campus.

The 20-member show choir is directed by Micheal F. Anders, Ph.D., professor of music, and choreographed by Brenda Hoyt-Brackman, adjunct dance instructor.

Selections for the performance include "Hernando's Hideaway" from "The Pajama Game," a medley of hits by "5th Dimension," "Doin' the Latest Rag" from "Titanic," "Family" from "Dreamgirls," "I Go to Rio" from "The Boy From Oz" and several other Broadway and pop classics.

A 2005 graduate of Willard High School, Hahler is the daughter of Mary and Robert Hahler of Willard.

Hahler is a sophomore physical therapy major at UF.

At UF, Hahler is active as president of the Newman club and serves as a resident assistant.

Mara Lee Albright of Norwalk is a member of Kappa Omicron Nu at Ashland University. She is the daughter of George and Rebecca Albright and is majoring in foods and nutrition.

Artwork created by Holly Fava, a native of Berlin Heights, was chosen to be included in The University of Findlay Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition in the Dudley and Mary Marks Lea Gallery in the Virginia B. Gardner Fine Arts Pavilion.

Fava, a sophomore pre-veterinary medicine major, is the daughter of Robert and Lynn Fava, of Berlin Heights.
