There was a three-vehicle collision Friday afternoon on Old State Road after one motorist stopped because he was concerned about what he thought were inadequate construction warnings.

Norwalk Police Capt. Dave Light said authorities believe there were plenty of signs or flaggers for the construction at the reservoir spillway.

Eugene T. Borgia, 51, of 2 Victoria Circle had stopped about 3 p.m. to speak to the construction workers. Crystal Trombley, 29 of 38 Townsend Ave., then stopped her Dodge truck behind Borgia's vehicle, Officer Timothy Skinner said.

Janis I. George crested the hill and hit the rear of Trombley's truck, pushing it into Borgia's vehicle, Skinner said.

George and her passenger, Earl Zimmerman, 39, of 824 S. Norwalk Road, went to Fisher-Titus Medical Center with various injuries and were later released. George was charged with failure to maintain assured clear distance.

I feel for Janis George. What I don't understand is why was Borgia stopped in the middle of the road anyway and at a bottom of a hill. He could have pulled over to a driveway or better yet use a phone to voice his concern about the construction. Why didn't he get cited for anything? I hope everyone is okay.

Thank you for who ever sent me the letter about the accident. I also have questioned what Borgia was thinking stopping on a road with hills. I am so sorry to Crystal. She ended up being in the middle of all this. I am so glad her and her child is okay. I have a young child myself. I was having a problem with the van inside, and everything happened so quick. Please accept my apology. I think Borgia should feel ashamed at himself as well. I am still at blame but feel because of what Borgia was doing he could have taken it somewhere else other than a road where he can cause a accident. I also apologize to the Zimmermen's because it was their van I was driving and their disabled son's transportation. I am sorry to Chum who was with me. I am glad we are all okay. Thank you Norwalk Reflector for letting me share this with others.
