The former county human services building has a new owner — again.

The building was sold Monday at a sheriff’s auction for $95,000 to Milieu LLC out of Asheville, N.C.

The PO Box number listed for Milieu LLC matches several real estate companies in Asheville, N.C. However when a representative for the company was contacted, she said the real estate developer had not purchased any buildings in Ohio.

This is the second time this decade the building has been sold. It was sold by the county commissioners to KG&R Development for $130,000 in January 2003. The developer promised to turn the property into senior housing. Instead, KG&R and its partner, Maple Grove Manor, had a falling out.

The project failed, Maple Grove Manor owed the county back taxes and the property was not upkept. Eventually, National City Bank foreclosed on the property. The bank put it up for sheriff’s auction last year but had no takers. KG&R has continued to have problems — the city of Chillicothe has started foreclosure proceedings on a downtown building KG&R purchased with plans to renovate it.
