Bellevue resident Clifford Beach was sentenced this morning to life in prison without the possibility of parole for brutally killing his wife in mid-August.
Huron County Common Pleas Judge Jim Conway said he intended to show no mercy to Beach — just as he did to his wife, who begged for mercy during the attack at their Walnut Street home. In February, a jury found Beach guilty of aggravated murder, murder and gross abuse of a corpse after a two-day trial.
"He deserves life without parole," Huron County Prosecutor Russell Leffler said in court.
Defense attorney Reese Wineman said his client didn't deserve the maximum sentence, given that Beach is 80 and a psychiatrist found that the defendant has a "deteriorating brain" impairment from a 1984 accident, which kept him from controlling his violent impulses.
