Port Clinton topped Norwalk 4-1 Wednesday in the Truckers' 2007 tennis opener.

The Truckers host Ashland today.

"Even though we lost the match I was very impressed with our play tonight," Norwalk coach Ray Scheid said. "We knew that PC was one of the premier teams in our area and for all of our guys to go out play real competitive tennis is very pleasing from a coaching standpoint.

"Corey and Andrew defeated a doubles team that was a district qualifier last season. They both played controlled tennis and made very few errors. It was nice to get a match under our belts as that was the first varsity match for three of the seven varsity players. Thursday (today) we face another very good team as Ashland comes to Norwalk."
