BOWLING GREEN — It will be a homecoming of sorts for Alexa Perry.

The senior defensive specialist at Division I Nicholls State University will play with Colonels in the Bowling Green State University Invitational on Sept. 14-15 — 60 miles from her hometown of Norwalk.

Perry graduated from Norwalk in 2015, and is in her third season starting for Nicholls State.

The Colonels will play at 11 a.m. vs. IUPUI and at 4 p.m. vs. Marshall on Sept. 14, then play host Bowling Green at noon on Sept. 15.

The Colonels are members of the Southland Conference, where each school is based in Louisiana and Texas — making this by far the closest Perry will have played close to her hometown.

In seven matches this season, Perry has 23 digs ahead of the Colonels' next match on Thursday.

At Norwalk, Perry was a member of the Div. II state runners-up team in 2012 and Div. II regional runners-up team in 2014. She earned All-Northern Ohio League honors in 2013 and 2014.

Perry set the program record for serve receive percentage in 2014, and was on the honor roll and principal's list all four years of high school.

Perry is the daughter of Eric and Heather Perry, of Norwalk.
