The project covers the areas of State Street to Milan Avenue and Main to East Washington streets. It encompasses more than 30 city blocks of properties and utility markings have been made on the sidewalk, street, curb and boulevard areas.
The lines depict actual underground utilities that are located prior to construction. Each color of line represents a different utility: Yellow = natural gas
(Columbia Gas); green = sewer (city);
blue = water (city);
orange = communication (phone/cable — Frontier/Spectrum) and red = electric (Ohio Edison).
“Underground construction work requires these to be located prior to construction.
Does this mean these roads will be dug up? Not necessarily. Most construction work will take place underground, via directional boring,” Norwalk Public Works Director Josh Snyder said.
“Sections will need to be cut out for access to the ends of the lines or tie-ins. This is a Columbia Gas project that encompasses replacement of service and main lines for over 30 city blocks.”
