Stephen Sondheim’s and Mansfield native James Lapine’s cockeyed fairytale comes to life in this adaptation of their groundbreaking, Tony Award-winning musical. “Into the Woods, Jr.” features all of your favorite characters - Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack (and his beanstalk) and the Witch - in this lyrically rich retelling of classic Brothers Grimm fables. The large cast features over 20 principal players.
Younger cast members will be featured in a one-act curtain raiser of “1001 Arabian Nights”. King Shahryar kills a new wife every night, because he is afraid she will stop loving him. But his new bride Shahrazad has a clever plan to save herself. Her nightly stories - of Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp, Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, and many other heroes and villains - are so engrossing that King Shahryar has to postpone her execution again and again.
