Brown won two matches in singles competition on Thursday at the Division I sectional championships for the Truckers, and will face Madison's Gaven Remy in a semifinal match on Saturday. The top four singles and doubles teams advanced from the sectional.
Brown had no trouble in the two victories, sweeping both Ashland's Isaac Haynes (6-0, 6-0) and Sandusky's Tyler Franklin (6-0, 6-0) to advance to next week's district tournament.
Brown is just the seventh boys tennis player in the storied history of the Norwalk program to reach 100 wins. He is 100-23 for his career and 26-4 this season.
Also assuring themselves of a district appearance next week was the doubles team of Andrew Riley and Wyatt Brown. They had a first-round bye, then quickly topped Madison's Harrison Lunsford and Travis Pittenger in a sweep (6-0, 6-0). They face the Ashland team of Nolan Glazier and Will Long on Saturday back at Fremont.
Carson Colahan, Andrew Mozina, and the doubles team of Ben Traczek and Sam Vanderpool each won a match on Thursday before being eliminated.
In singles action, Colahan had a bye, then beat Sandusky's Hunter Hayberger (6-4, 6-2) before falling to Ramey in the quarterfinals in a close match (7-5, 6-4). Mozina opened with a win over Sandusky's James Robinson (6-3, 6-3), the also fell in a tight match to Fremont's Andrew Miller (6-4, 6-4).
Traczek and Vanderpool opened with a win over Columbian's Zack Krintzline and Colin Burkett (6-1, 7-5), then fell to Ashland's Luke Blakely and Jack Shultz (6-2, 6-1).
After seeding is determined on Saturday with the two semifinal rounds, the district tournament is scheduled for Wednesday at Bowling Green State University. From there, the top two singles and doubles team winners will advance to the state championships in Mason on May 24.
