Norwalk tennis edges Sandusky to remain atop SBC Lake

NORWALK — The host Norwalk girls tennis team edged Sandusky in SBC Lake division action Tuesday, keeping the Truckers atop the Bay division at the midway point of the league schedule.

Norwalk (9-1, 5-0) swept doubles play, as Jordan Gran and Sela Berry beat Aonesty Cogar and Sumeryn Thomas at No. 1 (6-2, 6-0) and Mara Berry and Alexa Moore topped Baylie Tieche and Kristen Ehrnsberger at No. 2 (6-0, 6-0).

Megan Berry had the Truckers’ lone singles win at No. 1 over Alana Armstrong (6-3, 6-0), while Sandusky’s Marissa Esposito beat Gabby Horowitz at No. 2 (1-6, 7-5, 10-7) and Audrey Smith beat Emma Trost at No. 3 (7-6 (3), 7-5).

Norwalk hosts Fremont Ross tonight.

Edison 5, Fre. SJCC 0

FREMONT — Edison swept Fremont St. Joseph in SBC Bay division action Tuesday.

In singles action, Mariah Medina beat Gloria Rhinehart at No. 1 (6-0, 6-0), while Jayla Medina and Kaylee Ries won at Nos. 2 and 3 by injury default.

In doubles play, the duo of Emily Vogus and Torri Keyser beat Erin Borer and Hannah Shell at No. 1 (6-1, 6-0), while Lexi Weyer and Emily Moore won by default at No. 2.

Edison (8-1, 6-0 SBC) returns to action today at home against Perkins.

Clyde 4, Bellevue 0

CLYDE — The Fliers defeated Bellevue in SBC Lake division action Tuesday.

In singles play, Clyde’s (4-4, 3-1) Lakotah Cagle topped Rayven Whyde at No. 1 (6-0, 6-0), while Siera Hisey beat Ella Little at No. 2 (6-1, 6-0) and Madi Bannister defeated Kaitlyn Cullen at No. 3 (6-0, 6-0).

In doubles action, the Fliers’ duo of Mary Wilkerson and Emma Strudthoff beat Sage Garcia and Perla Monreal at No. 1 (6-1, 6-0), while the No. 2 match was interrupted by rain.

Clyde’s Klara Miller and Alyssa Lauer were defeating Alivia Hamons and Maddie Corrado 6-4, 3-1.

Willard 5, Oak Harbor 0

WILLARD — he Crimson Flashes beat Willard in SBC Bay Division action.

In singles action, Emma Moll beat Chloe Duquette at No. 1 (6-4, 6-4), while Carlee Gibson beat Addi Hasselbach at No. 2 (5-7, 6-4, 6-3), and Addi Paxton topped Christine Arent at No. 3 (6-0, 6-2).

At doubles, the duo of Jo Brubaker and Addy Slone beat Vivian Kunkle and Mya Lanke at No. 1 (6-0, 6-0), while Tori Barnett and Whitney Robinson beat Bailey LaFountain and Haley Hess at No. 2 (6-2, 6-2).

VOLLEYBALL

Bellevue 3, Edison 1

MILAN — Bellevue defeated Edison in SBC crossover action Tuesday, 25-16, 25-17, 19-25, 25-15.

Molly Bullion was 12 for 12 serving with two aces and 11 digs and went 111 of 111 setting with 45 assists to lead the Lady Red, while Kami Hay was 20 for 20 serving with an ace and 10 digs.

Also for Bellevue, Payton Vogel was 14 for 17 serving with three aces and 17 digs, and went 30 for 38 hitting with 14 kills and three blocks, while Morgan Dendinger was 14 for 15 serving with an ace and 14 digs, Madison Hrynciw was 17 for 17 hitting with 10 kill and 18 digs, Taylor Baxter was 27 for 32 hitting with 15 kills, 10 digs and five blocks, and Riley Mohr was 20 for 24 hitting with seven kills and three blocks.

For Edison (2-5), Kira Appeman had 11 points, seven kills, six digs and five aces, while Hannah Vitaz added six points, four kills and four blocks, Jessica Stoll had four kills and three digs, and Grace Houser had 23 digs.

Also for the Chargers, Natalie Lambert had 17 assists, five points and two aces, while Lilli Schuster added two kills and five digs, Danielle Blatnik had six points, an ace and six digs, and Maddi Proy had four digs.

Edison returns to action Thursday at home against Huron.

Willard 3, Margaretta 1

WILLARD — The Crimson Flashes beat Margaretta, 25-19, 16-25, 25-20, 25-23.

For the Flashes, Maraya Polachek was 25 for 26 serving with three aces, while Alyse Cok was 14 for 14 serving with six kills and 12 digs.

Cassie Crawford added 12 kills, 12 digs and one block, while Lydia Wiers had 14 kills, and Chloe Wiers had 13 kills and four blocks.

Also for Willard, Haylie Hamons had 12 digs, while Jena Adams had 22 assists and Chloe Weaver had 20 assists.
