Bellevue snaps Norwalk win streak in SBC Lake win

BELLEVUE — The Truckers saw their four-game win streak snapped in a loss to the host Lady Red.

With the loss, Norwalk fell to 6-11 overall and 2-4 in the SBC Lake Division.

Sydney Hughes was 2 for 3, and Sky Story, Alex Nolan and Meadow Muratori each added one single. Karissa Conrad allowed four earned runs on 12 hits with three strikeouts and a walk in four innings.

Monroeville 8, New London 4

MONROEVILLE — The Eagles maintained their spot atop the Firelands Conference with Crestview off the strength of a six-run second inning on Wednesday at Clark Park.

For Monroeville (11-1, 6-0), Skiler Hershiser had two hits that included a double, while Jessica Hayes was 2 for 4 with an RBI. Alex Carper doubled and had two RBIs, while Sydney Meisler added two RBIs, and Payton Scheid singled and also had two RBIs.

Scheid got the win in relief of Carley Helmstetter, pitching four innings. She allowed two unearned runs on five hits with four strikeouts and a walk.

For New London (3-6, 3-4), Madison Rodriguez was 2 for 4 with a double, while Lili Bartow singled and had two RBIs. Natalie Ferguson and Gabby Ledbetter added a single and an RBI each.

GREENWICH — The Trojans fell to 5-10 overall and 3-3 in the Firelands Conference with Wednesday’s loss the Mounties.

Emma Keysor was 3 for 4 and scored a run for South Central, while Taylor Sexton and Kailee Beaver both went 2 for 4. Ardana Pace tripled and drove in a run, while Madison Allen singled and drove in a run.

BASEBALL

New London 16, Monroeville 8

MONROEVILLE — The New London baseball team improved to 5-8 overall and 3-4 in the Firelands Conference after winning a wild 10-inning game on Wednesday over Monroeville at Clark Park.

The Eagles (1-12, 0-6) had trailed 4-0 entering the bottom of the sixth, then plated four runs to tie it up. New London got a run back in the top of the seventh, only to see Monroeville tie it and force extra innings.

The ‘Cats then scored three runs in the top of the eight, only for the Eagles to again respond with three runs of their own to keep the game going. Finally, New London exploded for an eight-run 10th inning.

For New London, Kevin Fridenstine had two singles, an RBI and scored two runs while picking up the win in relief of Wyatt Shockley. He allowed four runs (two earned) on seven hits with five strikeouts and two walks.

Also for New London, Chase Keathley had two hits and two RBIs, while Shockley singled and drove in three. Matt Jarvis singled and had two RBIs, while Eric Case doubled in a run, and both Karson Howell and Grant Heileman each had a single and an RBI. Jacob Girton added two hits and an RBI.

Mason Hiser had a huge day for the Eagles. He was 5 for 6 with two doubles, a triple and three RBIs. Merritt Key added two hits and two RBIs, while Brad Kraft had two hits and an RBI, and Noah Smith added two singles.

S. Central 12, Mapleton 2

GREENWICH — South Central remained alone in first in the FC with Wednesday’s win over the visiting Mounties.

The Trojans, who visit Plymouth today and host the Big Red on Friday, improved to 11-3 overall and 6-0 in the league.

Simon Blair went all five innings for South Central, allowing two earned runs on four hits with eight strikeouts and three walks. He added a single and an RBI.

Also for the Trojans, Isaiah Seidel, Tycen Cooper and Blaine Wheeler each had a single and an RBI.

Edison 10, Willard 0

MILAN — The Chargers had no trouble improving to 9-3 overall and 5-1 in the SBC Bay Division with a run-rule win over the Crimson Flashes.

For Edison, Jadon Hanson was 2 for 3 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs. Jacobee Kessler was also 2 for 4 with two RBIs, while Caden Cooper was 2 for 3 with two RBIs.

Jacob Thompson threw five scoreless innings, allowing five hits while striking out five and walking two.

For Willard (1-14, 1-6), Ashton Ames was 2 for 3. Caden Flores, Jake Cok and Daniel Hall each singled.

COLLINS — A seventh-inning rally fell one short for the Roughriders in a Firelands Conference loss to the Cougars.

Western (6-6, 1-4) trailed 8-4 in the bottom of the seventh, but plated three runs and had the tying run at third base.

Jude Münz was 3 for 4 with two doubles, an RBI and two runs scored to pace the ‘Riders. Devin Good was 2 for 2 with an RBI and also scored twice, while Tate Drennon and Matt Jarrett were both 2 for 4 with a double, while Jarrett added an RBI.

Blake Hiesser singled and drove in a run. On the mound, Muenz went five innings and allowed four runs (three earned) on seven hits with three strikeouts and one walk.

TIFFIN — The Chargers kept their place atop the SBC Bay Division (7-0) with Wednesday’s sweep over the Senecas.

At first singles, Lincoln Meredith won (6-2, 6-3), and he was followed at Nos. 2 and 3 singles by Brody Yost (6-2, 6-1) and Nate Spence (6-1, 6-3).

The No. 1 doubles team of Carter Kramer and Kaleb Yoder won in a sweep (6-0, 6-), while Jacob Lombardi and Adam Frederick won by default at second doubles for Edison (9-2).
