Two races set in Norwalk

There will be at least two races in Norwalk during the November general election.

Republican incumbent Rob Duncan will run against Democratic challenger Dave Light in the race for mayor, while Republican Sharon Harwood will take on independent Matt Fair in the Ward 2 council race.

The Ward 2 seat is being vacated by Republican Dave Wallace, who unsuccessfully ran against Duncan in the mayoral primary in May.

School board candidates, township candidates and other city and village candidates will be certified in August, according to Cecilia Blevins, director or the Huron County Board of Elections.

Here is list of the candidates already certified and the issues, with more to come:

Mayor, Norwalk — Rob Duncan (R) vs. Dave Light (D)

1st Ward Council, Norwalk — Deborah Lucal (D)

2nd Ward Council, Norwalk — Matt Fair (I) vs. Sharon Harwood (R)

3rd Ward Council, Norwalk — Samantha Wilhelm (R)

4th Ward Council, Norwalk — Matt Doughty (D)

3rd Ward Council, Bellevue — Steve Hill (I)

4th Ward Council, Bellevue — Beverly Ommert (R)

Here is a list of issues filed for the Nov. 5 general election:

• Bellevue Public Library, tax levy renewal; current expenses; 1 mill for a continuous period of time; voting on issue, Bellevue City School District.

• Ridgefield Township, tax levy replacement; ambulance and medical services; .25 mills for continuous period of time; voting on issue, Ridgefield Township and Monroeville village.

• New Haven Township, tax levy replacement; fire and ambulance; 1.6 mills for continuous period of time; voting on issue, New Haven Township and Plymouth village.

• Wakeman Township, tax levy renewal; roads and bridges; 1.5 mills for five years; voting on issue, Wakeman Township and Wakeman village.

• Ridgefield Township, tax levy renewal, cemeteries; .25 mills for three years; voting on the issue, Ridgefield Township and Monroeville village.

• Clarksfield Township, tax levy replacement; roads and bridges; .90 mills for five years; voting on the issue, Clarksfield Township.

• Tri-County Ambulance District, tax levy renewal; ambulance and medical services; 1.25 mills for five years; voting on the issue, Greenwich Township, Greenwich village and Ripley Township.

• Huron County Board of Public Health, tax levy replacement; current expenses; .25 mills for 10 years; voting on the issue, all of Huron County except Bellevue city.

• Huron County Board of Commissioners, tax levy additional; establish and operate 9-1-1 and public safety communications system; .725 mills for five years; voting on the issue, all of Huron County.

• New London Local Schools District, bond issue and tax levy additional; permanent improvements; bond — 3.45 mills for 30 years/levy — 2.9 mills for five years; voting on the issue, New London Local School District.

• Ripley Township, tax levy additional; roads and bridges; 1.5 mills for five years; voting on the issue, Ripley Township.

• Fairfield Township, tax levy renewal, cemeteries; .75 mills for three years; voting on the issue, Fairfield Township and Fairfield Village.
