She was born November 14, 1943, in Orlando, Florida, to Frank M. Croft, Sr. and Lois (Clapp), and was a 1962 graduate of Norwalk High School. Following graduation, she worked her way through college and hospital laboratory training, graduating from Jacksonville University in 1970 with a BS in Biology and board certification in medical technology.
She worked in the microbiology laboratory at John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, and while there presented research data to the FDA in Washington D.C. regarding antibiotic testing. She also was a laboratory manager in Sandusky, Ohio, where she developed a lab manual that withstands changing times; this project was presented to the National Medical Technologists meeting in Atlanta, Georgia, and was published in their monthly journal.
Susan also worked for the Du Pont Co., in Medical Products in various sales and marketing positions throughout the US and Canada. Before retiring in 2000, she was Vice-President of National Accounts in Chicago, Illinois.
She spent her retirement years in Norwalk and became active in the First Presbyterian Church, serving as a Deacon, Elder, adult Sunday school teacher, and officer in the Presbyterian Women Association. She was an Ohio State football and Cleveland Cavalier fan, and enjoyed playing cards every Friday night with friends.
Susan is survived by her brother, Frank M. Croft, Jr., and his wife, Barbara, of Dublin, and two nieces.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Friends may call on Wednesday, April 11, 2019, from 10 a.m. until time of memorial services at 11 a.m. in First Presbyterian Church, 21 Firelands Blvd., Norwalk, OH 44857. Rev. James Hodson will officiate. Burial will be in the family plot at Milan Cemetery.
