He separated from the Navy as a 2 nd Class Petty Officer (Quartermaster), hitch hiking his way home from San Diego, California, to Elyria, Ohio. After returning home, he met his life-long companion, Lawanda, and started a family. As his family grew, he coached little league baseball, was a Norwalk Trucker Booster, lead countless bibles studies, and performed pre-game chapel services for the Detroit Lions. A decade’s long sales representative for Norwalk Furniture Corporation, Bob had clients all across the Northern half of Ohio, many of whom became life-long family friends. When at home, Bob liked to work with his hands, and always had a home improvement project in planning or underway. After retiring, he frequently played golf at Thunderbird Hills and Eagle Creek, traveled with family, and watched his extended family grow. In recent years, Bob & Lawanda left Huron and returned to Norwalk, re-establishing the Mason home base. Norwalk is home for the Robert W. Mason Family.
