She was a bookkeeper for the Preis Clothing Store in Norwalk until 1960, when she started work at Union Bank and Savings in Bellevue. She was hired by the bank in February 1960 where she held many official positions. In December 1990, she was named President of the bank, becoming the first woman President of any financial institution in Huron and Sandusky Counties and only the eighth in the State of Ohio. She was a graduate of the Ohio School of Banking, completed various studies at Bowling Green State University and the American Institute of Banking. Rosemary was a volunteer at the Norwalk Food Bank and for funeral luncheons at St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer Catholic Church in Norwalk.
Upon her retirement she resided in Sandusky for several years and then moved to Norwalk in 2002. Just recently she lived at the Carriage House in Norwalk.
She is survived by her sister, Mildred (and the late Arden) Miller, by her brother, Vincent (Mary Ann) Schaffer, by her sister, Carolyn (John) Mench, by her sisters-in-law, Dorothy Schaffer, Joanne Schaffer and by many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her sister Dorothy Rose in infancy, by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary (Donald) Hettel, Delores (Willard) Miller, Elnora (Leander) Bores, by her brothers Paul Schaffer and Carl Schaffer, Jr.. She was also preceded in death by her nephews, Kenneth Bores, David, Gary, Ricky and Jason Schaffer.
Friends may call on Thursday, January 24, 2019, from 4 to 6 pm in Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St. Norwalk, Ohio. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 25, 2019 at 1:30 pm at St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church, 38 W League Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Msgr. Ken Morman will officiate. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Monroeville, Ohio.
